1954 Buick(s)

  1. Hi There! I am in Australia looking to see if possible 1 pair of hood hinges would be available for sale from anyone? I am chasing some in Australia but putting out the feelers just in case I cannot get them locally, my car is a 1954 2 Door Buick Century
  2. Well here goes. This here is a take off of a thread I started sometime back over on the BCA Forum called "GIRLS ON BUICKS". It was a big hit and has been imMENsely enjoyed. http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/318819/Searchpage/12/Main/76783/Words/%22Girls+on+Buicks%22/Search/true/Girls_on_Buicks#Post318819 * I have had several requests off and on line to carry it over to here. So with no further ado, here it goes. PLEASE feel free to add your own "Girls on '54 BUICKS" Remembering of course that this is a family oriented site and to keep your comments gentlemanly (and lad
  3. Was checking over things in prep for starting My '54 again, and found this yellow wire disconnected. I looked in the wiring diagram section inMy shop manual, bit could not make out, where it even went. (The disconnected black one I found, goes to BAT term of regulator) Any idea where the yellow one hooks to?
  4. I have a spare '54 hood, and front and rear bumpers, all driver quality, what should I ask for these, if I decide to sell? Hood has surface rust, and a couple dents. Bumpers are average, some nicks and scratches
  5. I have a century wagon that is missing both front and rear bumper guards - anyone have any spares sitting around also, like just about every other 54 on the planet, my hood spear is broken anyone have anything?
  6. I had noticed one of my spark plug wires insulation was cut from the spark plug covers. I looked to replace the set. I ordered from NAPA the universal kit but found the wires were a dark royal blue. I was not pleased with the wire color at all. I found Summit carries the Pertronix 7mm black direct fit. The color is a good solid black and fit is excellent. No cutting and crimping. The boot for the spark plug is at 90 degrees as it should be and allows the spark plug cover to be mounted. The boot at the distributor cap is not angled. The connections at both ends are solid and boots stay
  7. I don't know what to think... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Other-Base-/281855011495?forcerrptr=true&hash=item419fde2aa7:g:LdQAAOSwcdBWRTGD&item=281855011495 You decide.
  8. I think this has been on here before, I like lookin at the runnin fitty fo's http://youtu.be/BcbYIJvlmVQ The things they do for TV Start with the key? What are the things on the fenders? They aren't from a 54, are they?
  9. Hey guys, I have been having a problem with the rear lip of my hood scraping the top of my firewall when you open the hood. Is there an upward adjustment with the hood hinges, or should this be fixed with new hood bumpers on the fenders?
  10. Guys: Would gloss or semi gloss be the most appropriate type paint for the engine compartment? Reason being is I'm painting my fan shroud as I wait for this new radiator to come in. Thanks in advance
  11. Hello, The hood latch release on my Skylark seems to be disengaged, which won't allow me to open the hood. Is there an emergency release lever which will unlock the hood? Thanks, CKC
  12. Has anybody fabbed up a piece that would go from the top of the radiator to the top of the grille? I would think this would increase the cooling efficiency by limiting the air through the radiator to only outside air. All the other old cars I have worked on have some some of piece like this and it looks like it would be easy to make. Then again maybe my car is just missing this?......
  13. So fellas...after 3 1/2 solid years with my beautiful Betty Buick...I've moved on. As of this past Saturday I've sold my car to a new owner. In her place I've purchased a 1957 Cadillac series 62 coupe. Although its not a Buick its one of GM's finest automobiles. The new owner will hopefully join this forum to share his adventures with Betty (the name might change as he wasn't a fan of the name). Although I'm no longer a 54 owner I'd like to remain on this forum as I've never had a better group of motorheads who...without judgement or remark...have always been there to help me. Thank you
  14. With the new baby here I'm going to put AC in the Buick. Does anybody have experience with the Vintage Air Mark IV underdash unit? It's the best looking one out there in my opinion. Any issues with the stock radiator handling the addition?
  15. Needs lots of work but looks pretty nice: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5126215808.html
  16. So it looks as if I might have a potential offer on my car which might come through in the next few days. The current interested party doesn't want my NOS hood which I was going to throw in with the overall deal. This hood is brand new and its doubtful anyone here will ever find anything like this again (if you do I'll gladly buy you lunch). NOS hood for the 40-60 Series (Special/Century). This still has all of its original factory black primer. It is 100% rust free and beautiful! If interested let me know. I'll entertain any offers from the 400-600 range. Its better to pick this up as
  17. We all know that car shows are enjoyable. There are many different kinds. Points/judging, local show for cars of all kinds, era specific and simple cruise ins. Most are for charity and do well. I do attend many of the charitable shows. With exception of this weekend. I was asked to share the Buick at a retirement home. No fee, no judging or charity other than sharing with the retirees. I must say it is/was the most satisfying, exciting and fulfilling car show I have attended. The residence all had their own stories. Wonderful memories of their cars from decades ago. Remembering
  18. Guys: Oldbuickparts.com is out of the 1954 hood insulation sombreros. Is there another source for these? Oldbuickparts.com doesn't know when these will be in stock again.
  19. After 2 months of waiting I finally have my NOS hood. This thing is BEAUTIFUL! Literally looks like someone hopped into a time machine and stole this from the Flint Michigan factory! I hope to install this on my car soon!
  20. Interesting. Would like to know more about the condition of this one. http://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/5009112485.html 1954 Buick Super Conv, very good condition, older paint still in good shape, original interior in good shape, new top, original motor. Souther rust free car, original floor, trunk ect, this car has never been rusty, has the Ultra Rare Skylark wire wheels, a true original survivor car, very hard to find in the condition, I'm in Ontario, About 2 hours from the boarder, can deliver if needed, $ 40,000
  21. I was hoping someone had an idea what these are worth. I cannot find a single car with them on it. They were an accessory option but next to impossible to find in this condition. (Original) Almost 60" long
  22. Guys: After some thinking I'm thinking about parting ways with both my classics in order to buy another classic. To me it makes more sense to have just one really nice one rather than two. That being said I'm thinking about parting ways with my 1954 Special 48D. Its in great running shape and it comes with extras to include a NOS hood (not installed) and a new radiator (which could be installed for the buyer, current one works fine). I also have some original advertisements, receipts from the Dynaflow rebuild, gaskets, etc. I'm looking for around the 15k mark but I'm open to offers.
  23. Guys: Since I'll have my NOS hood here shortly I wanted to see if anyone wanted my old hood. Its still presentable but there was some rust through on the inner sheet metal near the hood latch. This is great for someone who has no hood or one that's messed up. It comes with the BUICK letters and its currently painted. 100 bucks or best offer
  24. Guys: Same dude who sold me my hood has a NOS hood for the 50-70 series. Check it out: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-Buick-NOS-Hood-50-Series-Super-70-Series-Roadmaster-/321708394308?hash=item4ae7508744
  25. Hey guys I just picked up this beautiful NOS hood from a guy in Michigan (literally minutes ago). This thing has been in dry storage for the last 50 years!!! I'm replacing mine because it has some pretty bad former rust issues that were patched over 20 years ago. This one will clean up my engine compartment really nicely! Check it out
