Tryin' to dial in to the site preference of music....

don't know about the rest of the site, but you're sure hittin on a few of mine. My playlist would be anythin by Greatful Dead, Bob Weir, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Byrds, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, Gene Clark, CCR (John Fogerty) Van Morrison, Pete Townsend, Neil Young, Michael Nesmith, Allman Brothers (Greg), The Band, George Jones, Junior Brown, Whiskey Town, Notting Hillbillies, Link Wray, Patsy Cline, Chet Akins, Ray Charles, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, BB King, Percy Sledge, Aretha, Townes Van Zandt.

Ask me if I became depressed last year when I lost 70% of my hearing after some 12 guage shotgun target practice. All music now sounds like the chipmunks and it's coming through a busted speaker. Take care of your hearing folks, wear ear protection, music will never be the same for me. thanks anyway for playin it here for us Bob. I love to pull one of these up while I'm perusing the site.

Now to the Byrds...they did a lot of covers but this one is all theirs and my fave.

:music2:

Eight miles high and when you touch down

You’ll find that it’s stranger than known

Signs in the street that say where you’re going

Are somewhere just being their own

Nowhere is there warmth to be found

Among those afraid of losing their ground

Rain gray town known for it’s sound

In places small faces unbound

Round the squares huddled in storms

Some laughing some just shapeless forms

Sidewalk scenes and black limousines

Some living some standing alone

I'm gonna skip right to old Percy Sledge...I think you planted that one just for me right?

When a man loves his Buick

Can't keep his mind on nothing else

He'll trade the world

For the good thing he's found

If she runs bad he can't hear it

She can do no wrong

Turn his back on his best friend

If he put her down

When a man loves his Buick

Spend his very last dime

Tryin' to hold on to what he needs

He'd give up all his comfort

Sleep out in the rain

If the Buick payment is due

Well, this man loves a Buick

I gave you everything I had

Tryin' to keep you shinny and pretty

Baby, please don't break down on me

When a man loves his Buick

Down deep in his soul

She can bring him such misery

If she needs a special tool

He goes to Sears and buys it

Pays in cash so his wife will never see

When a man loves a woman

He can do no wrong

He can never own some other car

Yes when a man loves his Buick

I know exactly how he feels

'Cause Buick, Buick, Buick you're my world

When a man loves his Buick.....

When Ray Charles comes up how do you pick just one song?

.....me I will always start with mess around :music:

Ah, you can talk about the pit, barbecue

The band was jumpin', the people too

Ah, mess around

They doin' the mess around

They doin' the mess around,

everybody doin' the mess around

Ah, everybody was juiced, you can, bet your soul

They did the boogie-woogie, with a steady roll *

They mess around

They doin' the mess around

They doin' the mess around,

everybody doin' the mess around

Now, ah, when I say stop don't you move a peg

When I say go, just ah, shake your leg

And do the mess around

I declare, do the mess around

Yeah do the mess around,

everybody's doin' the mess around

Now let me have it there boy

Now you got it boy

(Yeah, ah, mess around, go on mess around)

(Mess around, boy)

Now this band's goin' to play from, 9 to 1

Everybody here's gonna have some fun

Doin' the mess around

Ah, doin' the mess around

They doin' the mess around,

everybody doin' the mess around

Now you see that girl, with that, diamond ring

She knows how to, shake that thing

Mess around

I declare, she can mess around

Ah, mess around,

everybody do the mess around

Tree is up...kids in bed...Rum'n Eggnog in hand....The Band :music2:

Life is good.....wait a minute another song idea :sarcastic:

When I get off of this mountain, you know where I

want to go?

Straight down the Mississippi river, to the Gulf

of Mexico

To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl

that I once knew

She told me just to come on by, if there's

anything she could do

Refrain:

Up on Cripple Creek she sends me

If I spring a leak she mends me

I don't have to speak, she defends me

A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

Good luck had just stung me, to the race track I

did go

She bet on one horse to win and I bet on another

to show

The odds were in my favor, I had 'em five to one

When that nag to win came around the track, sure

enough she had won

(refrain)

I took up all of my winnings, and I gave my

little Bessie half

And she tore it up and threw it in my face, just

for a laugh

Now there's one thing in the whole wide world, I

sure would like to see

That's when that little love of mine, dips her

doughnut in my tea

(refrain)

Now me and my mate were back at the shack, we had

Spike Jones on the box

She said, "I can't take the way he sings, but I

love to hear him talk"

Now that just gave my heart a throb, to the

bottom of my feet

And I swore and I took another pull, my Bessie

can't be beat

(refrain)

Now there's a flood out in California and up

north it's freezing cold

And this living on the road is getting pretty old

So I guess I'll call up my big mama, tell her

I'll be rolling in

But you know, deep down, I'm kind of tempted

To go and see my Bessie again.

Ohhhh baby.....:drinks:

I have a mansion, I forget the price

Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice

I live in hotels, tear out the walls

I have accountants pay for it all

They say I'm crazy but I have a good time

I'm just looking for clues

at the scene of the crime

Life's been good to me so far!

My Maserati does 185

I lost my license now I don't drive

I have a limo ride in the back

I lock the doors in case I'm attacked

I'm making records, my fans they can't wait

They write me letters tell me I'm great

So I got me an office gold records on the wall

[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/j/joe-walsh-lyrics/life_s-been-good-lyrics.html ]

Just leave a message maybe I'll call

Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through

Everybody says I'm cool (He's cool)

I can't complain but sometimes I still do

Life's been good to me so far

I go to parties sometimes until four

It's hard to leave when you can't find the door

It's tough to handle this fortune and fame

Everybody's so different I haven't changed

They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time

Everybody says Oh yeah (Oh yeah)

I keep on going guess I'll never know why

Life's been good to me so far

ooooooooo what a lucky man he was!

Happiness

More or less

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

Oh, my, my

Happiness

Coming and going

I watch you look at me

Watch my fever growing

I know just where I am

But how many corners do I have to turn?

How many times do I have to learn

All the love I have is in my mind?

But I'm a lucky man

With fire in my hands

Happiness

Something in my own place

I'm stood here naked

Smiling, I feel no disgrace

With who I am

Happiness

Coming and going

I watch you look at me

Watch my fever growing

I know just who I am

But how many corners do I have to turn?

How many times do I have to learn

All the love I have is in my mind?

I hope you understand

I hope you understand

Gotta love that'll never die

Happiness

More or less

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

Happiness

Coming and going

I watch you look at me

Watch my fever growing

I know

Oh, my, my

Oh, my, my

Oh, my, my

Oh, my, my

Gotta love that'll never die

Gotta love that'll never die

No, no

I'm a lucky man

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

Oh, my, my

Oh, my, my

It's just a change in me

Something in my liberty

Oh, my, my

Oh, my, my
